Important Update: Essentials of Texas Firearms Law to be Discontinued
Published on August 23, 2021 Updates
The Texas Legislature during its 2021 Regular Session substantially revised the state’s firearms laws through the enactment of House Bills 1927 and 2112 and Senate Bill 550, which all become effective on September 1, 2021. After that date, a legal owner of handguns who is 21 years of age or older may carry a nonconcealed handgun in many places in public without a license to carry.
These provisions make obsolete several sections of Essential of Texas Firearms Law, especially the chapters “Regulation of Firearms by Location” and “Firearms Law for Business Owners.” Owners of the book should take care to consult current law when referring to its contents.
