The Supreme Court of Texas has the authority to regulate Texas lawyers.[1] Consequently, the following rules govern lawyers but primarily focus on the requirements of IOLTA accounts.

  1. Rules Governing the Operation of the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, Amended June 15, 2021: Rules 4–7 and 20–25 are applicable to lawyers who maintain IOLTA accounts.
  2. State Bar Act, Tex. Gov’t Code Ann., tit. 2, subtit. G, ch. 81., governing the State Bar of Texas.
  3. State Bar Rules, Tex. Gov’t Code Ann., tit. 2, subtit. G, app. A., address maintaining a Texas law license.
  4. Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure, Tex. Gov’t Code Ann., tit. 2, subtit. G, app. B., governing compulsory discipline and the grievance process.
