Published on May 9, 2023

Did you know many Texas Bar Practice publications are available as monthly and yearly online subscriptions? It’s true! Our online subscriptions offer a wide range of benefits, from convenient access to affordability, and can be a great alternative to purchasing hard copies.

Our online subscriptions are updated regularly, so you won’t have to worry about using outdated material. Above all else is the simplicity of access. All you need is an internet connection and a web browser, and you’re set!

Let’s take a look at the main reasons you should consider online subscriptions from Texas Bar Practice.

WHICH TEXAS BAR PRACTICE TITLES ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AS ONLINE SUBSCRIPTIONS?

Currently, eight of our publications are available as online subscriptions. In fact, the Texas Criminal Pattern Jury Charges is only available as an online subscription. Take a look at what we have to offer below. If you’re interested in any of the titles, you can preview them on this page.

If you’re a law school student or educator, you can access our online subscriptions and digital publications for free. To learn more, read our recent blog on the subject.

EASILY ACCESSIBLE ON ANY WEB BROWSER WITH AN INTERNET CONNECTION

Online subscriptions live on your Texas Bar Practice account. You can access your subscriptions on any digital device as long as there’s a web browser and a stable internet connection. Anything from computers, iPads, and iPhones to smart fridges and your Tesla’s dashboard can access TBP online subscriptions. This means you won’t have to worry about forgetting your materials at the office or taking the wrong laptop.

To access your online subscription, simply log into your Texas Bar Practice account. From there, you’ll see all your active subscriptions on the Home page (on the left side of the screen under “Subscriptions”). Click on “Go to Product” to open your online subscription.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONLINE SUBSCRIPTIONS AND DIGITAL DOWNLOADS?

While they may seem similar, digital downloads and online subscriptions differ in a few fundamental ways. One crucial difference is the fact that digital downloads are yours to keep while online subscriptions are only accessible as long as the subscription is active. Let’s take a look at the main differences.

DIGITAL DOWNLOADS

Digital downloads, which are available for purchase on their own or as a bundle along with the hardcover version of the book, have a license that allows you to download the title. In general, one purchase includes a single license. You can download the book multiple times, as long as it’s on your own computer(s). If another lawyer at your firm or colleague needs to access the title, then they’ll need an additional license.

Once you download the digital version of the book, it is yours to keep. The download is a PDF which means you can access it whenever you’d like after it’s been downloaded to your computer. Even if you don’t have access to Wi-Fi, you can still access the PDF of your Texas Bar Practice book. The PDF will only be accessible on the computer where it was downloaded.

ONLINE SUBSCRIPTIONS

On the other hand, online subscriptions require an internet connection for you to access them. All you need is a web browser to log into your Texas Bar Practice account so you can access your online subscription. This makes online subscriptions as reliable as possible. Even if you only have your smartphone, you’ll be able to log into the Texas Bar Practice website and your subscription will be available.

Online subscriptions are optimized for mobile devices which means you won’t have to pinch and zoom to read the text. Everything will automatically adjust to the screen on your mobile device. All your bookmarks will also be accessible, no matter which browser or device you use to access your subscription.

CONVENIENT MONTHLY AND YEARLY SUBSCRIPTIONS AVAILABLE

Online subscriptions are the most affordable way to access Texas Bar Practice publications. Depending on the title, monthly rates can range from $14.99 to $29.99 while yearly rates range from $150 to $299.88. This offers you the flexibility of paying for the publication only for the amount of time you need it.

Let’s compare the digital download of the Texas Real Estate Forms Manual, 2022 ed., to its online subscription. The digital download costs $440.00 plus $100 for the hardcover. A yearly subscription to the same title costs $299.88. That’s a savings of $140!

Of course, you may prefer to own the title outright without worrying about yearly or monthly subscriptions, and that’s totally fine! This is just one of the many options we offer our customers so they can easily access our products.

REGULAR UPDATES TAKE PLACE BEHIND THE SCENES

At Texas Bar Practice, we’re constantly working on our publications so they can be the most reliable, relevant resources for law professionals across the state of Texas and beyond. If you’re signed up for auto-renewal, you’ll receive new editions of books every few years depending on the title. This means you might have to wait two years or more for a newer edition to become accessible.

Online subscriptions, on the other hand, are regularly updated behind the scenes. You won’t even have to download an updated version of the publication. This means you’ll always have access to the most current version of our publications.

Digital and print versions are updated on a longer timeframe. Whenever we release a new edition, you’ll pay the full price to access the updated content. If you signed up for auto-renewal, you’ll receive a 30% discount on future releases, but that price tends to be higher than a yearly online subscription.

You won't have to pay extra to access the updated content if you’re signed up for monthly or yearly online subscriptions and a new edition is released.

DOWNLOADABLE FORMS AVAILABLE

Online subscriptions and digital downloads come with downloadable Microsoft Word forms. You can easily download and edit all the forms you might need. If you’re a PC user, you can download the Texas Bar Books Toolbar to take your form editing to the next level.

To find a specific form, simply click on the “Forms” link in the left column. From there, you’ll open all the available forms for any specific chapter. Once you find the form, you can download it by clicking on the Word or PDF icons in the top right corner. You can then edit the form at your discretion.  This is available for both digital downloads and online subscriptions.

THE POWER OF TEXAS BAR PRACTICE IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND

When it comes to the benefits you can expect from our online subscriptions, these highlights barely scratch the surface. The best way for you to experience these benefits is by trying out our online subscriptions for yourself! If there’s a title that interests you, simply sign up for a monthly subscription and give it a shot. If it’s not the right fit, just make sure to cancel before the end of the month so it doesn’t renew. We do not offer refunds on subscriptions, so consider your options before signing up for a yearly subscription.
