TOJI Spotlight: Tycha Kimbrough (Kimbrough Legal, PLLC)

Published on May 20, 2024 TOJI Spotlight

Tycha Kimbrough, the founding partner of Kimbrough Legal, PLLC, has always been driven by a desire to give back to her community. Inspired by her family's experiences with the criminal justice system and raised by her grandparents, she knew from a young age that she wanted to become a lawyer. After completing her undergraduate degree, Kimbrough attended her dream school, Baylor Law School.

Shortly after getting licensed in 2019, Kimbrough launched her own law practice, committed to "doing law differently" and serving clients in a modern, tech-savvy, and efficient manner. Despite the challenges of being a young, minority woman starting her own firm, she remained dedicated to her vision.

Although Kimbrough had already launched her practice when she joined TOJI, the program helped take her firm to the next level. The supportive network of like-minded lawyers, valuable resources, and solid foundations provided by TOJI have been instrumental in her personal and professional growth.

At Kimbrough Legal, PLLC, technology is leveraged to improve accessibility and client experience. A client portal allows for easy communication and file access, while educational videos help clients understand the legal process, saving them time and money. Kimbrough emphasizes the importance of personal development and a positive mindset to better serve her clients.

In just four years, the firm has experienced rapid growth, expanding to multiple offices across Texas. Kimbrough's five-year plan includes continuing to grow the firm and serve families in need across all major metroplexes in Texas, while balancing her desire to give back and the need to support herself and her family.

Actively involved in pro bono and low bono work, Kimbrough and her team volunteer with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas and participate in community outreach efforts through local lawyer associations. She firmly believes in the importance of lawyers using their knowledge and skills to help others in need.

Kimbrough's journey serves as an inspiration for lawyers seeking to build purpose-driven practices. With her drive, creativity, and the support of the TOJI incubator program, she has successfully navigated the challenges of entrepreneurial legal practice, demonstrating the impact that dedicated lawyers can make in serving their communities and breaking generational cycles.
